Goal 1: Greater Impact for more vulnerable children

Greater impact for more vulnerable children is both quantitative and qualitative. During this strategic period, World Vision Nederland (WVNL) desires to reach out to more vulnerable children and equally contributes to the breadth, and depth of impact on vulnerable children. The Partnership’s focus on fragile contexts is leading.

Greater impact

Currently, the number of children reached is measured through the REACH dashboard. The challenge with this system is that not all beneficiaries of all projects are included. Hence WVNL will update the REACH dashboard to incorporate all beneficiaries of all projects. During the update, a decision will be made on how to include direct and indirect beneficiaries and advocacy projects. While the aim is to increase the number of beneficiaries to 6 million vulnerable children, we acknowledge that this is done within the boundaries of quality and in line with the other objectives under goal 1.

Deepen sustainable impact in fragile contexts and long-term projects

In line with WVI’s global strategy, the focus of development programmes and grants will continue to  be on fragile contexts. In FY23, WVNL will continue to learn from the Fragile Context Programming Approach pilot, with the aim to use this approach in developing an AP in a fragile context with WV Mali. We also aim to use this model in other developmental grants. Furthermore, there will be specific projects around FMNR to build on the environmental agenda within the developmental sector. WVNL acknowledges the need for longterm relationships in attaining sustainable change.  Hence there will be a continued engagement with WV global teams and a focus on Field Offices.

Through the engagement with Field Offices WVNL aims to contribute to the enhancement of programmes in Area Programmes in order to obtain sustainable Child Well-Being. WVNL will actively engage and scout for opportunities to align grant programmes with a total target of EUR 1.2 million) with long-term APs.

Programme Quality and Effectiveness

WVNL aligns itself with the key sectors of the WVI strategy and aims to make use of the core project models. The objective 1.4 KPI will be reviewed and tuned to be more applicable to the work and control of WVNL. In addition, the IPG team will continue to build on its sectoral expertise and set out a clear outline of the expectations from individual programme officers regarding sectoral knowledge. Also, IPG will develop a required capacity statement and other documentation, and will continue to  build solid connections with technical teams and other available experts in and linked to the Partnership. FY23 will also be used to train the IPG team on available tools for developing and measuring programming quality.

Visibility of impact

One of the ways to pre-position with donors is to showcase evidence of current projects and WV’s work in general. Although WVNL desires to step in line with the Partnership regarding setting up an Impact Framework, we acknowledge that waiting too long might not serve the WVNL strategy. To achieve a balanced approach, we will determine the need for impact sharing based on the donor engagement/strategy plan. To further improve the pre-positioning and engagement with public donors, impact documentation and input from the organisation’s advocacy agenda will be used.
